This workshop has been organised by the Space, Place, Environment and Liveability (SPEL) Pathway and is open to all ESRC and non-ESRC funded PhD and MA Social Research students within the WRDTP’s seven partner universities. Whilst this workshop is aimed at SPEL Pathway students, PGRs from all seven interdisciplinary Pathways are welcome to attend.
This course will cover:

A brief intro to the research grant funding landscape – (focusing mainly on Research Council and Charity Funding)
Practical tips when applying for your first research grant
Understanding what funding bodies are looking for
Putting grant writing into practice – learning from ECR experience

Students will gain:

A brief introduction to the research grant funding environment relevant to the SPEL pathway.
To prepare and start thinking early about how to shape a research grant application
To gain some ideas around what grant funding bodies are typically looking for
To hear first hand from an ECR who has applied for and been awarded grant funding to develop a research idea and begin the trajectory of building up their track record.
