The speakers at this event are currently engaged in new research projects which involve utilising creative experimentation and playing as methods to interrogate issues that AI technologies and mediated environments pose specifically for scholars of race, gender and sexualities. Dr Radhika Gajjala (BGSU, USA) and Dr Rianna Walcott (BCaT Lab, University of Maryland, USA) will each give a short talk about their ongoing work that includes reflecting on digital avatar creation on Midjourney and questioning the ability of ChatGPT to reproduce – and co-produce – Black vernacular styles, and reflect on the implications of both their findings and their experiences of working with these tools. 
Please note that the speakers will be joining online. The main event will take place from 4.00-5.30pm, followed by refreshments and a networking opportunity.[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][vc_column_text]Attendees will gain insight into:
