SUMMARY:Qualitative Data Analysis: Part 2
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” overlay_strength=”0.3″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]Doing data analysis in qualitative research is a vital stage for doctoral researchers, but is something students often struggle with. There are multiple frameworks for doing analysis, many different guides as to the practical steps behind doing analysis, and using different theoretical approaches affects how data is assessed and written up.
This online workshop will introduce students to doing qualitative data analysis, and present three different ways of thinking about it. These will be thematic analysis, and analysing spatial and literary data. Students will also be able to use the time to ‘troubleshoot’ their own issues in doing data analysis in their own projects, with expert presenters and fellow PGRs.
This workshop complements a previous one (titled ‘Qualitative Data Analysis’) that took place in March 2025. PGRs are encouraged to access the recording of the previous workshop before attending this one. Please go to the Training Resources section of the WRDTP website (having logged in using your institutional login details) and select ‘Advanced Qualitative Methods Training (AQUALM)’, then find the recording in the playlist. If you experience any difficulty, please email training@wrdtp.ac.uk.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Outcomes
This workshop will:

Develop attendees’ understanding of different ways of doing qualitative data analysis (thematic analysis, and analysing spatial and literary data);
Improve attendees’ confidence in approaching qualitative data;
Provide an opportunity for ‘troubleshooting’ current issues faced in data analysis.
