Feminist Educators Against Sexism x Women in Academia

Women in Academia invite you to a zine-making workshop hosted by Feminist Educators Against Sexism

This workshop will explore the theme of rage, an emotion that women are not usually permitted to show, especially in academic spaces. This will be a collective experience which is focused on being together rather than the individually minded wellbeing events that are normally on offer for women.

Even if you can’t make the workshop, there will be the opportunity to enter your own piece of work on the theme of rage into our competition, so follow us on Twitter @WomeninAcademi1.

This event is open to PhD students that identify as women from all of the partner institutions and interdisciplinary pathways.

About Feminist Educators Against Sexism:

Feminist Educators Against Sexism (#FEAS), is an international feminist collective committed to developing interventions into sexism in the academy and other educational spaces. We use a mix of humour, irreverence, arts practices as well as collective action to interrupt and disarm both everyday and institutional sexism within Higher Education and other spaces.

#FEAS are feminists; we are queer, Indigenous, people of colour, and white. #FEAS welcome allies and supporters and is a safe space for everyone who identifies with any letter of the LGBTIQ+ community, and anyone facing intersecting oppressions. Sex workers, transgender people, non-binary people are part of the #FEAS community.

You can read their paper “Between activism and academia: zine-making as a feminist response to COVID-19” here.

About Women In Academia:

Women in Academia are a group of women in the White Rose DTP. Our aim is to work with Universities and institutions to improve the conditions in academia for women.

Please note that this workshop will be delivered via Zoom, and will not be recorded.
