WRDTP Research Data Management and Open Scholarship 2025
All new social sciences doctoral researchers from the Universities of Bradford, Hull, Leeds, Manchester Metropolitan, Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam and York are warmly invited to attend the next WRDTP Research Data Management and Open Scholarship event.
This event, which last took place in April 2025, is organised annually. An agenda for the day can be viewed at the bottom of this page (this is currently subject to change, but no significant changes are anticipated).
This is a compulsory event for new WRDTP-funded PhD students (i.e. those starting their doctoral research in the 2025-26 academic year), unless they previously attended this event in the 2024-25 academic year whilst completing their Master’s degree.
As well as new WRDTP-funded PhD students, this event is open to:
- All new, non-DTP-funded social sciences PhD students at the seven WRDTP partner universities;
- DTP-funded students studying for their MA in Social Science Research in the 2025-26 academic year (although we recommend waiting until your first year of PhD study to attend this event).
You will need to specify which Interdisciplinary Pathway your research is most closely aligned with when booking a place at this event. Please see the Pathway summaries for more information.
Please note: The WRDTP is committed to sustainability and to reducing the waste from excess catering at events. A key challenge here is non-attendance at events. From October 1st 2025, the WRDTP will be changing the way we manage the non-attendance of PGR students who have booked place/s at WRDTP Training events. Any PGR student who does not inform the WRDTP (via training@wrdtp.ac.uk) that they will not be able to attend a WRDTP event at least 3 working days before the event takes place will have the cost of their place deducted from their RTSG (if a WRDTP-funded student), or have this charged to their department (if not funded by the WRDTP). This will allow us to better plan for events and to avoid catering waste. Thank you in advance for your cooperation on this matter.
This event will take place in person only at Sheffield Students’ Union.
Bookings will close at 09:00am on Monday 3rd November.
When booking your place, we ask that you use your institutional (.ac.uk) email address and complete all fields of the booking form. Thank you for your understanding.
