Beyond Academia: Presenting Your Research to Other Audiences
This event, suitable for doctoral researchers from all social science disciplines, aims to help you make your research accessible and visible beyond academia.
It will include sessions delivered by the SCJ (Security, Conflict and Justice) Pathway Training Team on drafting and publishing a blog post, speaking to the media and responding to consultations and providing evidence to policy makers. It will also include examples of how arts-based methods and art-activist approaches can be used to communicate research findings and ideas from the social sciences to a wider range of audiences using zines.
PGRs attending this event will be provided a practical hands-on experience and will be encouraged to produce an output of their choice (a blogpost, a draft evidence submission, a zine, etc.) as an outcome of the workshop.
Outcomes
Participants will critically reflect on how to communicate their research to non-academic audiences and develop their skills in drafting blog posts, preparing submissions for policymakers, and using the arts to communicate their research.
