Project Description

The Chartered College of Teaching is the professional body for teachers in England. Their mission is to empower a knowledgeable and respected teaching profession through membership and accreditation. Their Research and Policy department focuses on improving the links between research, policy and practice through the publication of reports, internally and externally funded research projects and their thought leadership work, which includes responding to open government consultations.

They are looking for a Research Assistant to study the role and impact of a professional body of teaching on policy and practice in education. In 2027, the Chartered College of Teaching will celebrate its 10th anniversary. They would therefore like to understand how other key organisations and stakeholders in the system perceive the impact they are having as an organisation on developments in the education sector and which areas of influence they think they should be focusing on in the years to come. To this end, they want to run a stakeholder consultation combining a survey and focus groups with representatives from research, policy, press and practice. This will allow them to better understand their position in the sector and shape their activities for the years to come.

Expected duties will include:

  • Analyse results from a stakeholder survey
  • Conduct focus groups/interviews with key representatives from other organisations in education (e.g. NFER, National Institute of Teaching, Ambition, Teach First, etc.)
  • Transcribe and analyse data inductively
  • Write up data into a report
  • Present results at a team meeting
