Training & Events

We offer training to all social sciences research students in our partner Universities.

Our training sessions are linked to our 7 interdisciplinary pathways, focus on developing advanced methodological expertise, and/or focus on areas of broad appeal to all research students (for example, relating to academic and professional skills development, researcher wellbeing or post-PhD careers and employability).

WRDTP training is organised and supported by experienced academic researchers with disciplinary and methodological expertise from across the social sciences.

We offer four large, in-person events each academic year. Attendance at these events is compulsory for ESRC-funded students in their first year of PhD study (except the conference, which students are expected to attend at least once during their PhD). All non-ESRC funded students from the WRDTP partner institutions are also welcome to attend. Slides and/or recordings from these sessions will be available in the Training Resources area after the event.
