Qualitative Data Analysis

Doing data analysis in qualitative research is a vital stage for doctoral researchers, but is something students often struggle with. There are multiple frameworks for doing analysis, many different guides as to the practical steps behind doing analysis, and using different theoretical approaches affects how data is assessed and written up.

This online workshop will introduce students to doing qualitative data analysis, and present three different ways of thinking about it. These will be narrative, reflexive, and diffractive analysis – but students will also be able to use the time to ‘troubleshoot’ their own issues in doing data analysis in their own projects, with expert presenters and fellow PGRs.

Learning Outcomes:

This session will:

  • Develop attendees’ understanding of different ways of doing qualitative data analysis;
  • Build attendees’ confidence in approaching qualitative data and employing narrative, reflexive, and diffractive approaches to data analysis.
  • Provide an opportunity for ‘troubleshooting’ current issues faced in data analysis.

This training session will take place online only. Students who book a place will be sent a Zoom link in advance.

Please note that the presentation section of this session will be recorded.

Bookings will close at 9am on Monday 17th March.
