Finding and Using Data: Follow-Up Workshop
This practical online workshop is a follow-up session to the online course Introduction to Finding and Using Data. The course has been designed for new doctoral researchers by the UK Data Service in collaboration with the White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership, Midlands Graduate School and the Scottish Graduate School of Social Science, and aims to provide new doctoral researchers with an introduction to the use of secondary data (both qualitative and quantitative).
This workshop will give you space to reflect on the course content and experience in designing projects using secondary data. You will work in a small group of other DTP students, with guidance and support from the tutor. It is important that you complete the online course before attending this follow-up session.
The workshop will run twice on Monday 28th April 2025 (you only need to attend once, either in the morning or in the afternoon). The times offered are 10:00-11:30 and 13:00-14:30. You will need to indicate in your booking form which session(s) you are available to attend.
The course and follow-up workshop are compulsory for WRDTP-funded PGRs starting their PhD in the 2024-25 academic year (excluding those in their first year of the 1+3 scheme). Please inform us by email or via the booking form if you cannot attend.
You are also welcome to attend the workshop if you are a non-WRDTP-funded PGR at one of the WRDTP’s partner institutions.
