Give a brief overview of your current role and responsibilities:
I am a Research Fellow in the Leeds Institute of Health Sciences working on a project to reduce opioid prescribing in primary care.
Describe your journey from your PhD to your current role:
Following my PhD, I undertook an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship (2023 to 2024), before securing my current Research Fellow position.
In what way did your experience with the WRDTP prepare you for your current career?
The WRDTP funding for my PhD and postdoctoral fellowship enabled me to undertake important methodological skills (e.g., on behavioural trials), training which I employ within my current role.
What advice would you give to current or future WRDTP postgraduate researchers?
To use the brilliant funding and training opportunities available from WRDTP, including the additional top up funding, institutional visits, and training on research methodologies. I also highly recommend applying for the WRDTP postdoctoral scheme.
