Current job title: Behaviour Lab Manager
Give a brief overview of your current role and responsibilities:
As the Behaviour Lab Manager at Leeds University Business School, I oversee the day-to-day operations of the Behaviour Lab, ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently. My role combines technical expertise with academic support: I act as a technician, advise staff and students on integrating behavioural research into their projects and teaching, and help them realise the full potential of the lab space. I also lead my own research and contribute to teaching within the School.
Describe your journey from your PhD to your current role:
Following my PhD, I transitioned into my current role as Behaviour Lab Manager at Leeds University Business School. My doctoral training equipped me with a strong foundation in research design, methodology, and ethics, which directly informed my ability to support and advise on behavioural research and teaching. This background was key to my selection for the role, where I now facilitate high-quality research and contribute to academic development across the School.
In what way did your experience with the WRDTP prepare you for your current career?
Without the WRDTP I would not have been able to afford to study and wouldn’t have gotten my current role.
What advice would you give to current or future WRDTP postgraduate researchers?
Make use of the opportunities available as best you can. Doing a PhD is hard and messy, be kind to yourself.
