ECY Writing for Publication Retreat

Join a writing retreat designed to support PGRs in Education, Childhood and Youth to meet their publishing goals. This event will provide some dedicated, distraction-free time in a relaxed environment to work on your own writing for publication.

This retreat is designed to be attended in partnership with the ECY Writing Workshop on Wednesday 3rd June, and provides an opportunity use the skills developed in the workshop alongside other PGRs. You are encouraged to attend both events if possible, although this is not a requirement.

Contributors

Dr Peter Hart works in the area of Inclusion, Childhood and Youth, with research interests in the use of gaming in education, safeguarding and professional ethics, character education, and reading comprehension. Recent projects at Leeds include using board games to develop language comprehension, young people’s perspectives on active travel, ICKLE, REACH Primary, safeguarding gaming spaces, and Narnian Virtues. He is also the Director of the WRDTP’s Education, Childhood and Youth (ECY) Pathway.

Please note: If you book a place at this event and subsequently find that you can no longer attend, you must inform us, in accordance with the attendance policy below. Although free to attend, this event has been organised at significant cost to the WRDTP.

The WRDTP is committed to sustainability and to reducing the waste from excess catering at events. A key challenge here is non-attendance at events. From October 1st 2025, the WRDTP will be changing the way we manage the non-attendance of PGR students who have booked place/s at WRDTP Training events. Any PGR student who does not inform the WRDTP (via training@wrdtp.ac.uk) that they will not be able to attend a WRDTP event at least 3 working days before the event takes place will have the cost of their place deducted from their RTSG (if a WRDTP-funded student), or have this charged to their department (if not funded by the WRDTP). This will allow us to better plan for events and to avoid catering waste. Thank you in advance for your cooperation on this matter.

This is an in-person event in Leeds.

This event is open to members of WRDTP partner institutions only.

Bookings will close at 9:00am on Monday 1st June.

When booking your place, we ask that you use your institutional (.ac.uk) email address and complete all fields of the booking form. Thank you for your understanding.
