Give a brief overview of your current role and responsibilities:
I am in a teaching and research position at a university. My role entails lecturing, module leading, applying for funding and conducting research.
Describe your journey from your PhD to your current role:
After my PhD I started my journey as a research assistant supporting a large randomised control trial. After this I moved to a senior research fellow role before securing ESRC funding to do a postdoctoral fellowship. After that I managed to secure my first permanent position in academia!
In what way did your experience with the WRDTP prepare you for your current career?
It gave me the springboard I needed to start a career in academia!
What advice would you give to current or future WRDTP postgraduate researchers?
Make the most of every opportunity, publish as you go, and don’t underestimate the power of networking!
