Phd, Research Associate 6 months, then 1 year ESRC postdoc, then current Marie Curie postdoctoral role
In what way did your experience with the WRDTP prepare you for your current career?
I was a covid student so it was all a bit weird. But my department was strong and helped me move from practice to academia.
What advice would you give to current or future WRDTP postgraduate researchers?
Focus on finishing your PhD as soon as possible and try to get continuation funds to write your first paper if you want an academic position. Everything else is a ‘nice to have’ but can fill up your time if you aren’t careful. Attend reading groups though. Reading is crucial.
