Current job title:

Research Fellow at the University of Leeds (Sector: Higher Education / Academia)

Give a brief overview of your current role and responsibilities:

I am responsible for the day to day running of the UK site in a European study developing digital health interventions for people with dementia.

Describe your journey from your PhD to your current role:

I applied for a job in my department when I was reaching the end of my PhD and got it.

What made you choose the WRDTP for your PhD?

It allowed me to develop my own research ideas rather than having to work on someone else’s. Plus the AQM route allowed me to explore new methodologies that had never been used in this sample before.

In what way did your experience with the WRDTP prepare you for your current career?

Going the AQM route allowed me to develop skills in using novel methodologies which I have been able to apply to multiple other patient groups. As not many researchers in my department are able to use these methodologies it has put me in a position where I can help colleagues.

What advice would you give to current or future WRDTP postgraduate researchers?

Take every opportunity you are offered (but don’t overstretch yourself), you never know where it may lead.
