Applying for Your First Research Grant: Practical Advice for Post-PhD Funding

This course will cover:

  • A brief introduction to the research grant funding landscape (focusing mainly on Research Council and Charity Funding);
  • Practical tips when applying for your first research grant;
  • Understanding what funding bodies are looking for;
  • Putting grant writing into practice – learning from ECR experience.

There will be an opportunity to hear first hand from an Early Career Researcher about their own recent experience of applying for grant funding.

The session will support students to:

  • Prepare and start thinking early about how to shape a research grant application;
  • Gain an understanding of what grant funding bodies are typically looking for.

This session will take place online only, and part/s of it will be recorded.
