Using behaviour change theory to address the grand challenges in wellbeing, health and communities

This online workshop has been organised by the Wellbeing, Health and Community (WHC) Pathway and is open to all ESRC and non-ESRC funded PhD and MA Social Research students within the WRDTP’s seven partner universities. PGRs from all seven interdisciplinary Pathways are welcome to attend.

The session will explore what behaviour change theory is, and the different behaviour change theories that can be used to address the grand challenges in wellbeing, health and communities.

The session will also provide examples of how to apply behaviour change theories and frameworks to different types of research studies, such as qualitative research, and how behaviour change theory can be used to develop intervention studies.

Attendees will learn:

  • What behaviour change theory is.
  • How behaviour change theory can be used in wellbeing, health and community research.
  • An overview of several behavioural change theories and frameworks.
  • How behaviour change theories and frameworks can be applied to research and intervention development.
