Project Description

Are you interested in supporting grassroots research for climate transition across industrial sectors in the UK?

Would you be excited to conduct qualitative interviews and analysis with organised workers on their tactics for changing their workplaces and trade unions on key political issues?

If you take on an internship with the Worker-Climate Project (WCP), you’ll be working with a grassroots organisation on our long-term research across the British labour movement on how to plan a climate transition across the economy.

The exact scope of the internship role will be specified in dialogue between the WCP and the applicant, with some possible tasks including:

  • Co-producing a public report on the research methods used by the projects so far, and our findings from surveying the worker-climate movement so far.

  • Substantial analysis across our interview set, looking for common themes such as key union structures, challenges etc.

  • Helping to plan and run ‘Worker Roundtables’ to bring together interviewees across a particular theme for deep discussion on their approaches and collaborating going forward.

By participating in this internship, you will have an opportunity to engage and assess every stage of a research process, working directly with each section of the team to offer critical feedback. This role will also be a valuable chance to learn as part of an organisation which aims to use research as a tool in growing networks and developing strategies within an active political movement.
