To help design and run a mixed methods research project.

Why did you choose this role with this particular host?

Sounded interesting and the project suited my skillset.

What was your greatest achievement during your placement?

Presenting my findings to the organisation at the end of my placement.

Were there any challenging aspects during your placement?

Completing the project on time.

How did your placement help you to develop your current skills and knowledge?

It allowed me to practice skills which I will use within my PhD project such as the recruitment of participants, interviewing and data analysis. It provided me with confidence that I would be able to find a suitable role at the end of my PhD.

How has your placement experience influenced your future career goals and aspirations?

It has reminded me that there are many different jobs that use research skills and that there are different options available when I finish my PhD.

What tips or advice would you give to current or future WRDTP postgraduate researchers interested in undertaking a placement?

Apply for your placement as early as possible. Apply for placements which are a good fit to your experiences and skillset.
