Finding and Using Data Follow-Up Workshop

This practical online workshop is a follow-up to this asynchronous, online course: Introduction to Finding and Using Data. It is mandatory for first-year doctoral researchers funded by the WRDTP/ESRC, but other PGRs in the social sciences at the WRDTP’s partner universities are also welcome to attend.

The online course, which consists of eight short modules, offers a practical introduction to sourcing and working with different types of social research data, both qualitative and quantitative. It has been designed for new doctoral researchers by the UK Data Service, in collaboration with the White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership, Midlands Graduate School and the Scottish Graduate School of Social Science.

The follow-up workshop will give you space to reflect on the course content and experience in designing projects using secondary data. You only need to attend one of the following sessions:

  • Tuesday 28th April 2026, 10:00-11:30 (Online);
  • Wednesday 29th April 2026, 13:00-14:30 (Online).

Please ensure that you complete the online course before attending your chosen follow-up session.
